What a fun afternoon on the acre! We hosted an informal open day where we welcomed many of our regular volunteers, attendees of our parenting groups and the primary school children who have been having forest school lessons on the acre.
The acre was alive with people that covered all the generations, a vision we have had for the garden is now coming to fruition. It was lovely to see the children having such fun, darting in and out of the sprinkler or exploring the acre, whilst the adults spread themselves on rugs and chatted cheerfully amongst themselves. The acre also provided much of the food with Lucy and Aniello both winning gold awards for their fantastic picnics. We also encouraged everyone to take some produce home and quite a few left with potatoes, beetroot and beans to have for their supper. A big thank you to Isobel and Lynn for showing us what was ready to crop and yet again being so patient as we fumbled our way under the spuds!
All of our hard work, often when soaked and cold, has paid off and the acre is now a great place to enjoy this summer.
