Blowin' in the wind

“Afternoons on the Acre continued and It was lovely to have Mervyn and Margaret on the acre with their grand sons and to also have Natalie and her children. Natalie's son, 7 year old Luka said of his visit:
“I really liked seeing the vegetables growing and it was exciting to be able to pick and eat our own fruit!  I can’t wait to come back and see the pond when it is finished - pond dipping is one of my favourite things to do.  I also really liked the maze - we played some great games of hide and seek around the Acre.  We are planning to use some apples to make crumble!”
They roasted marshmallows, enjoyed exploring all the nooks and crannies, hunted for bugs and butterflies and made prints from leaves.

Walks with Talks

In October we hope to start a series of walks, starting at the acre, called "Walks with Talks". Each week there will be a different route and a different leader with the aim of getting us to see and learn more about the area in which we live. If you would be interested in participating please indicate your interest by sending us an email at Info@space2grow.space.

Parenting Courses

The Parenting Space team have been working hard to bring parenting courses back to the acre. By reducing spaces on the course and adapting the activities they are able to deliver a 5 week course starting on Monday 21st September. If you are interested please email info@theparentingspace.space. Numbers are limited so be swift!

September days - musings from the acre September days and the slow, subtle changes that signify the end of summer are around us once again. Footprints can be left in the morning dew and the first leaves are falling from the trees as they begin the slow process of going into a deep slumber over winter. The time to dusk is accelerated and perhaps we are already reaching for the thermostat, wondering whether we can put off turning on the heating for a little while longer. This month also heralds the start of a burst of activity in our garden as preparations are made to put it to bed for the winter. There is always so much to do! Some plants need to be lifted and brought indoors, others need a good prune whilst fruit trees need to be picked of their harvest. In past times people would be busy preserving the fruits of their labour to see them through the harsh months that will follow and this is an activity which is gaining renewed popularity. In short, there is much work to do and if you can book to come along on Wednesday (info@space2grow.space) we would love to see you!

New season, new ideasAs we move into a new season, we're thinking of different ideas! If there is anything you would like to try at the acre or have inspiration for new activities for us, we would love to hear from you. We'd also really value your contributions to this newsletter. If there are any 'musings' that you would like to share about your experience on the acre please send them through to info@space2grow.space

Hope to hear from you and see you soon!
