from blue skies to a winter wonderland

donation made simple

Check out our website and our new 'donate' page! Thanks to Kate's hard work our website is getting a refresh and it's now really easy to make a donation to support us. https://www.space2grow.space/donate-1

Another way you can help us is to donate any old blankets, fabric or clothing. It's really useful in providing a layer between the pond liner and soil to help prevent damage to the liner. Please get in touch if you have anything to donate and we can arrange collection.

fresh shoots

It's always great to see fresh shoots on the acre. These bulbs were planted by the girls from 40 Degreez.

your feedback

"On behalf of Welcome to Volunteering and the wider Voluntary Action South West Surrey team we would like to send our heartfelt congratulations to everyone at space2grow for winning Jeremy Hunt’s South West Surrey Heroes Award - really well deserved!
Welcome to Volunteering have a long-standing relationship with space2grow and have had the pleasure of seeing a number of volunteers blossom there over the years. The thing that makes space2grow a unique place to be is that all volunteers are valued whatever their background or experiences. The contribution they make to the acre is always appreciated and their ideas for future development listened to and nurtured.
Whatever the time of year the kettle is on and there is always a friendly face on arrival. As those reading this who have worked with us will know we always describe it as the ‘secret garden’, much like the book, as you walk through the large wooden door you leave your troubles behind you and the healing power of being out in nature and in good company begins.
If you are reading this and feeling as though nearly a year of Covid-19 has left you feeling run down, anxious, lonely and isolated why not give volunteering here a go? We can certainly recommend it!

What a difference a couple of days can make! The week began with blue skies and a busy, socially distanced day of pond work, clearing and re-organising the greenhouses (with a very orderly new storage spot for pots in the salvage area). Sleepers were brought onto the acre in readiness for building raised beds and the fruit trees were given some love with a gentle prune.

Natalie and her boys spent a morning at space2grow, revelling in being outdoors, exploring the acre, working with willow and playing with the dogs. Natalie shares her reflections below.

Fast forward to Sunday and the acre was transformed into a winter wonderland! So beautiful and magical! We wanted to share these photos as the snow wasn't around for long!

reflections from the acre

In this week's reflections Natalie who visited the acre with her children, shares her thoughts....

"We visited space2grow on a frosty Friday morning and were excited to see a kingfisher by the pond as soon as we arrived.
After a chat with the team and picking some frozen sprouts, we got stuck in to helping tidy up the willow trees with my eldest pruning and my youngest weaving the cut branches into a new fence. The task quickly got abandoned though in favour of exploring and playing with the dogs!
After weeks of being cooped up indoors and stuck to screens, we left covered in mud but feeling like we’d wiped the slate clean. It was lovely to see how the acre had changed since our last visit in the summer for an ‘afternoon on the acre’ and we look forward to coming back soon."

If you would like to share what the acre means to you please email info@space2grow.space - we love hearing everyones reflections.

As always, we are working hard to ensure that space2grow remains a Covid safe site so please email info@space2grow.space prior to your visits, bring your own food and drink, take any rubbish home and please adhere to social distancing.

Thank you and see you soon!
