community, cooking and bodging

community collaboration & cooking

The latest cooking club group from Potters Gate School have completed their course with Coral's Cookery School which was generously funded by Lions Club of Farnham. They were presented with their own beautiful wooden chopping boards handmade by resident group Farnham men in sheds, our collaboration with Farnham Maltings. A great example of our community working together!

supporting the Bishop's Meadow

Our volunteers have been supporting our neighbour and partner the Bishop's Meadow Trust by clearing the Tudor ditch which runs through the meadow, ensuring the flow of water. Tough but satisfying work!

bodging success!

A steampunk bird table designed and created by bodger Jordan which now has pride of place in his garden.

in our garden

Our rakes have seen a lot of use recently as the trees shed their leaves, keeping our volunteers busy! Weeding, planting and pruning are always much needed jobs.

The build of our new composting area is coming along wonderfully and has been a real team effort. The new compost area has four sections with removable slats which have been stencilled with a leaf print to clearly label which slats go where. A great idea from one of our volunteers.

reflections from the acre

space2grow is not only a garden to work in but also a space to unwind and relax over a cup of tea and a chat with other members of our community. Chris comes every week with his Grandma Margaret, growing his confidence, getting outside and he now really enjoys a relaxing chat. He always emails to let us know he is coming and we thought we'd share one of his emails which made us smile!

"The days are drawing shorter as winter begins it’s approach. I find myself clinging to warmth as a rat clings to debris of a sinking ship. I have heard news of a location within Farnham, of which others have congregated. I fear now, to survive my boredom and isolation from the outside world that I will have to venture to this location.
They call this haven space2grow, you may have heard of it. Thankfully, I will not be venturing alone, my Grandmother has agreed to accompany me on this perilous journey, and for that I am most thankful. If we are lucky, we will be able to acquire some supplies on our venture, I hope to at least obtain some coffee and a sausage roll, if the gods permit it. Only time will tell."

If you would like to share what the acre means to you please email info@space2grow.space - we love hearing everyones reflections.

As always, we are working hard to ensure that space2grow remains a Covid safe site so please email info@space2grow.space prior to your visits, bring your own food and drink, take any rubbish home and please adhere to social distancing.
