Exciting times for the children from local school children as they harvest more veg they have grown from seed and this week saw their first pea pod appear. Thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund for funding this great activity.
garden experiments
Thursday gardening group undertook a flower seed experiment, using up all the left over and out of date flower seeds including verbena, lupin and poppy seeds. Time will tell if the experiment is a success - we'll keep you posted!
willow weaving in nature
Farnham Maltings have been running a programme to creatively connect Farnham. Through this they teamed up with space2breathe to run willow weaving workshops for parents, taught by Judith Needham, with a creche for children running alongside. The first five workshops took place at Hale Community Centre, but for the final session they visited space2grow to weave in the same space as some live willows.
Some beautiful creations have been made and the families have really enjoyed the opportunity.

reflections from the acre
This week's reflections are from a feature by Surrey Choices outlining why space2grow helps their clients and their work within the community ........
"Our EmployAbility team has been supporting people at space2grow to develop and enhance their confidence, team working and communication skills. The activities on offer are varied, but can include establishing vegetable beds, planting willow hedges, or tending fruit orchards.
Last week Emma and Finn were working on re-laying sleepers around a fruit bed. This task required the use of organisational skills, teamwork and horticultural knowledge. "I love space2grow, it is nice and calming, it has helped me feel more relaxed and confident" said Emma. Finn commented "I have really enjoyed my first few weeks at space2grow after being in lockdown for a year. It felt amazing to be socialising."
The outcomes of this project have been really positive. Their work was highlighted in the local paper, Surrey Choices colleague, Carla Whitby has said "It has been such a beneficial placement for so many people that we support and I have loved being able to be a part of their journeys and progression." The space2grow gardening group leader, Natalie, said "space2grow has supported the Surrey Choices group to develop their confidence and team working skills and communication reliability."
