spot the scouts!

We welcomed the 3rd Farnham Scout Group to the acre this week and they spent a fun evening in the garden. Can you spot the Beavers group in the maze?

in our garden

The Thursday gardening group were busy giving our entrance way some love this week.

The recent rain has certainly helped the garden grow! The wildflowers around the pond are looking amazing with the stunning green dotted with beautiful delicate flowers in every shade. Thank you to Farnham Town Council for donating the wildflower seed.

Every part of the garden is blooming from the flower beds to our feature wildflower meadow. Huge thanks to Lions Club of Farnham for their contribution to funding our gardening group during the summer.

join Natalie's task force!

With the judges from South & South East in Bloom visiting space2grow on 7 July we'd love to have a 'task force' day on Friday 2 July to give the acre a good tidy up to make sure it's looking its best for the judging. All welcome to come and join in - just email us to let us know you'll be part of the task force! Remember to bring your gardening gloves and drinks and we'll provide a barbecue at the end of the day.

thank you Waitrose!

We'd like to say a big thank you to Alice, Farnham Waitrose Community Lead, for thinking of us when they had an array of veg plants available for donation. Our gardening volunteers got to work straight away planting them.

Hackney schoolchildren visit

We're very happy to let you know that next Tuesday 29 June and Wednesday 30 June we'll be hosting two groups from London Fields School in Hackney who will camp out and spend time at space2grow. We last welcomed a group from the school in 2019 and we're excited to see them return next week to spend time out of the city enjoying nature.
Please note that due to safeguarding and COVID restrictions space2grow will be closed during the visit from midday Tuesday 29 June to midday Thursday 30 June.

a good read

Thanks to Rory from Farnham Men in Sheds for his book recommendation:
"I read a book recently which I’d like to share with the space2grow community. It’s called ‘Feeling Great’ by Dr David Burns. It is a recently published self-help book for people affected by depression, and counsellors. I think it is brilliant, and would recommend it to anyone who finds their emotions can interfere with their daily lives. His best-selling book ‘Feeling Good’, first published in 1980, was key to the development of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which is now recommended by the NHS. This version, based on in-depth scientific research and interactions with patients, also addresses the ‘stuckness’ people can experience with mental health problems. Here’s a link:

(It’s currently available for £10 as an ebook. This is worth a try, even if like me you normally read paper books. Alternatively, a cheaper paperback version may be available in future.)"

men 'on' sheds

We think the Farnham Men in Sheds, our collaboration with Farnham Maltings, look happy that their shed is nearing completion!

reflections from the acre

Rory from Farnham Men in Sheds shares his reflections........

unnamed-476.jpg

"I’ve been visiting space2grow and volunteering with the Farnham Men in Sheds group on and off since October 2019. It’s been a real pleasure to be involved with such a worthwhile project. I joined because I was having problems with employment and wanted to find a way to use my practical and creative skills. It’s been a relief to work outdoors in a beautiful garden, with other like-minded people, in a small but intrepid group. I’ve had the chance to solve practical problems, build and repair things, and learn from others. It’s evolving gradually, and it’s often sunny on Tuesday mornings, so maybe there’s something magical about the acre!"

If you would like to share what the acre means to you please email info@space2grow.space - we love hearing everyones reflections.

As always, we are working hard to ensure that space2grow remains a Covid safe site so please email info@space2grow.space prior to your visits, bring your own food and drink, take any rubbish home and please adhere to social distancing.

Thank you and see you soon!
