Huge thanks to the Truemark Trust, based locally in Liss, for their very kind donation to support these performances.

in our garden

All smiles from our wonderful volunteer gardeners this week. The donation of plants from Waitrose last week prompted a tidy and re-organisation of the greenhouses to provide a new home for the tomato, chilli and cucumber plants.

Our strawberry's were given some tender loving care with a soft straw bed.

join Natalie's task force!

Don't forget it's task force day on Friday 2 July! Join us for a big tidy up of the garden ready for South and South East in Bloom judging on 7 July. We'll finish off the day with a barbecue to say thank you for helping out.

Hackney schoolchildren visit - re-scheduled

The planned visit of two groups from London Fields School in Hackney was cancelled due a member of their staff testing positive, but, in true panto style the show must go on so we have re scheduled...
It will now take place from Wednesday 14 July to Friday 16 July.
Please note that due to safeguarding and COVID restrictions space2grow will be closed during the visit from Wednesday 14 July to midday Friday 16th July.

and now some thank you's

Don and Gill, beloved regulars at space2grow before the Covid outbreak, kindly made a donation of various plants and flowers, along with a pot of their infamous South African gem squash seeds. Although they have not been able to visit the acre due to isolating, they have been able to work hard on their garden at home. Gill wanted to share her beautiful bonzai azalea in full bloom! Thank you Don and Gill and we hope to see you at the acre soon!

We'd like to say a big thank you to Pax Hill Care Home for donating the proceeds of their recent plant sale. We're really grateful and look forward to putting the money to good use in the garden!

reflections from the acre

unnamed-25.png

Stephen was referred to space2grow by Surrey Choices. After working on his Person Centred Plan, Stephen chose to go to the award winning mental health garden space2grow. The garden is centred around an acre of land in west Surrey and has many amenities. It is a place where people can go gardening at their own pace and make friends, relax and find relief from their worries. Stephen, who was brought up on a farm used and fixed farm machinery. He has wished to use some of the practical skills that he has learnt, and would like to find a job in the community. So his aim is to build up his confidence until he feels ready to venture into doing a job.

“Since going to space2grow Stephen has started to make new friends there, which was also one of his goals, as he wanted to make new friends in the community. He has started to do jobs there at his own pace such as sharpening and cleaning the garden tools. He has also started setting in place railroad sleepers to make a border for a flower bed." - Patrick Allen, Activity facilitator.

"Stephen has found space2grow very beneficial. His confidence is growing and he feels more relaxed. His aim of getting a job using his skills has come a lot closer and he is making the most of the experience at space2grow to develop his skills even further".

"When I do the jobs here, I feel my mind flowing in a way that is good for me, on things that make me happy, instead of being stuck on one thing and worrying about it. There are nice people here, I like working with them, I feel I am getting a lot of good from coming here."

If you would like to share what the acre means to you please email info@space2grow.space - we love hearing everyones reflections.

As always, we are working hard to ensure that space2grow remains a Covid safe site so please email info@space2grow.space prior to your visits, bring your own food and drink, take any rubbish home and please adhere to social distancing.

Thank you and see you soon!
