our community in the garden

in our garden

Work continued this week on clearing the area behind the pond with some unusual discoveries of some old carpet and a rusty metal trailer frame! For other volunteers some general weeding and pruning was their activity of choice.

Enjoying relaxation time together as a community is an important part of the space2grow day. A chat and some laughs over a drink and a bite to eat is always welcome.

thank you

We love it when we receive donations and this week our volunteers have rescued plants that were being thrown away, a bench vice has been donated to the bodger's and Waitrose have donated unsold plants. Thank you!

reflections from the acre

We are very grateful to have support from the Community Foundation for Surrey Funder Plus programme. Laurie Mutch is a highly skilled volunteer who provides the trustees with expert advice and guidance on managing our finances and governance. This week Laurie shares his reflections ……

"I’ve had the privilege of helping the space2grow trustees with the financial accounts for the charity. I’ve also had the opportunity to visit space2grow on various occasions. Seeing the team at work in the garden and seeing the courses that are run, one can only step away from that and be amazed at what has been accomplished since the charity started. I’ve got to know the work of the charity extremely well by helping with the accounts and on that side of things we’ve made tremendous progress in the context of governance which is a very important subject for charities. I really do feel that our work together has resulted in the governance of space2grow being really first class now. This gives us a number of opportunities from clear and precise budgeting for the trustees to manage the charity and to increase the effectiveness and likelihood of being awarded future grants from donors."

If you would like to share what the acre means to you please email info@space2grow.space - we love hearing everyones reflections.

As always, we are working hard to ensure that space2grow remains a Covid safe site so please email info@space2grow.space prior to your visits, bring your own food and drink, take any rubbish home and please adhere to social distancing.

Thank you and see you soon!
