in our garden
The wildlife pond is brimming with plants, animals and insects and looking fantastic. It's a welcome spot for volunteers to sit and relax and we can't wait for local primary school children to come back and explore the pond.
There's nothing quite like taking home some lovely fresh produce to cook for dinner after a busy day in the garden. The runner beans and courgettes have been abundant this year and this week saw elderberries and cobnuts added to the selection available.
Our Autumn project is clearing some of the overgrown wilderness from the secret garden. Once it's clear we'll decide, as a community, what to do with the extra space. Maybe a covered area for working in the winter with some seating fashioned from logs? We'll let you know later in the year.
a big thank you
We'd like to say a big thank you to Community Foundation for Surrey for the valuable support we've received from them over the past few months. Not only have they granted us funds to pay towards the work we do but we have also been working behind the scenes with a wonderful volunteer from their Funder Plus programme who has shared his skills and expertise to help us transform our finances and plan for the future.

reflections from the acre
The resident and visiting dogs at space2grow are a much loved part of our community. Our volunteers really enjoy giving them a bit of fuss or throwing a ball for them. It's another way space2grow helps people feel a little better. This week Tuppy shares his reflections ……
"Hi I’m Tuppy. I’ve been coming to space2grow for a long time because my mum set it up. I live next door so it’s very convenient. Chasing squirrels is my all time favourite activity (I don’t want to hurt them, just chase them to make me feel tough), closely followed by chasing balls. I absolutely love food and cuddles and I can't stand loud, scary noises.
Wednesday is my favourite day because the humans make food in the talking shed all day. Apparently it’s called cooking club. The smells are amazing and I usually hang out all day in the hope that someone drops something tasty. The humans are pretty good at cuddling too so it’s a win for me. I always help with cleaning the floor at the end of the day.
One evening I decided to go in to the talking shed to double check the floor was clean and the door shut behind me. I was stuck and it was very scary. My mum was pretty stressed when she found me. I gave her a nice cuddle and a lick to make her feel better.
When the sun was shining lots of small humans arrived. From London apparently. So many of them! It was amazing because they all wanted to cuddle me! And they threw balls for me too! Heaven!
Sometimes I like to visit the garden and say hello to the humans. I bark a bit when people arrive. I’m just letting everyone else know they’re here and asking for a fuss. Some humans can seem a little bit down. I like to find them and sit quietly close to them. They give me a cuddle and I make them feel a little bit better."
