Fantastic news!
We've received the best early Christmas present this year! Community Foundation for Surrey have awarded us a grant of £9,000 to go towards our administration, the vital behind the scenes work which underpins everything we do. Thank you to everyone at the Community Foundation from everyone at space2grow!

keeping us safe
There's a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes making sure space2grow is a safe space for everyone. We'd like to say a big thank you to Kate, our wonderful administrator, for all the work she does and, in particular, carefully checking the garden and updating our risk assessment. A new copy is displayed in the gardening shed at the beginning of every month and also available on our website here so please do give it a read.
in our garden
Our greenhouses were given some tender loving care ready for winter so we can keep growing during the colder months. A new, larger greenhouse is definitely on our wish list and we hope to raise funds for this in 2022. We'll keep you posted.
Work has started on preparing our vegetable beds for the winter months and onions have been planted.
Plenty of seed pots have been made from old newspapers and are now filled and planted with lettuce in the greenhouse.
We've been joined by local artist and filmmaker Amber Bardell for community wreath making on Monday's in the run up to Christmas. Natural materials found in the garden and recycled textiles will be combined to make a beautiful wreath. A great chilly day activity in the gardening shed.
Something a bit different happened in the garden recently! The Friday volunteers joined Emma in a dance to the Cha Cha Slide to celebrate her 21st birthday before tucking into tea and chocolate cake! Happy Birthday to Emma who shares her reflections below.
signing the way
Local resident Peter Banks has very kindly hand made beautiful signs which now adorn all of our sheds in the garden. Thank you so much Peter - we love them!

reflections from the acre
Emma was referred to space2grow by Surrey Choices around a year ago and these are her reflections…...
"When I first came to space2grow I was overwhelmed by the amount of nature there was and I love seeing how the garden looks in the summer when the wildflower meadow is in bloom and also seeing all the colours. I’ve grown my confidence by meeting and speaking to lots of new people. Being at space2grow has helped calm me down and gives me somewhere to have a nice change of scene after lockdown when we weren’t able to do much. I’ve learnt about proper weeding techniques, how to construct a pond and planting vegetables. I’m an animal lover so the dogs being here is a real plus for me. I’ve made some four-legged friends as well as humans. I also really like the tea and cake!"
If you would like to share what the acre means to you please email info@space2grow.space - we love hearing everyones reflections.
As always, we are working hard to ensure that space2grow remains a Covid safe site so please email info@space2grow.space prior to your visits, bring your own food and drink, take any rubbish home and please adhere to social distancing.
Thank you and see you soon!
