shed life and gardening in the sunshine

shed life in the news

Last week Farnham Men in Sheds, our collaboration with Farnham Maltings, put the finishing touches to their project to increase the capacity of the Hale Community Fridge and Cupboard food waste reduction scheme. The cupboard was constructed from recycled wood, donated by a volunteer at Hale Community Centre. The outdoor cupboard provides a dry place outside to store fruit and vegetables so that the community can access what they need to at any time. If you have an idea for a woodworking project to benefit the local community please get in touch.

in the garden

All kinds of work in the garden this week as well as some relaxation in the sunshine.

The new veg beds were finished off providing more growing space. Our veg expert Gerard will be joining the Monday and Friday gardening groups to support and guide our volunteers in planting them up.

reflections from the acre

Thursday gardening group leader Libby sent us this excerpt from 'The Well Gardened Mind' by Sue Stuart-Smith which we loved so wanted to share....

"A garden gives you a protected physical space which helps increase your sense of mental space and it gives you quiet, so you can hear your own thoughts. The more you immerse yourself in working with your hands, the more free you are internally to sort feelings out and to work them through. These days, I turn to gardening as a way of calming and decompressing my mind. Somehow, the jangle of competing thoughts inside my head clears and settles as the weed bucket fills up. Ideas that have been lying dormant come to the surface and thoughts that are barely formed sometimes come together and unexpectedly take shape. At times like these, it feels as if alongside all the physical activity, I am also gardening my mind."

If you would like to share what the acre means to you please email info@space2grow.space - we love hearing everyones reflections.

Like so many things in life all of the activities we provide for the local community cost money. If you are able to make a donation, however big or small please click this link to donate. https://www.space2grow.space/donate-1

As always, we are working hard to ensure that space2grow remains a Covid safe site so please email info@space2grow.space prior to your visits, bring your own food and drink, take any rubbish home and please adhere to social distancing.

Thank you and see you soon!
